KTM has imported two units of the Duke 390 Adventure (codenamed KT22) to India for R&D purpose. To be positioned above the Duke 390 and RC390, the 390 Adventure tourer will create a new segment in the Indian two-wheeler industry.

Powering the Duke 390 Adventure will be a 373.2 single-cylinder, liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine that also does duty to the Duke 390 and RC390. Mated to a 6-speed transmission, this engine delivers a maximum power output of 42.9bhp, while producing a peak torque of 35Nm. The 390 Adventure will share several components with its naked and fully faired siblings – 390 and RC390. Though, it will have better off-roading capabilities. It suspension system will be boosted with all terrain and longer travel assembly, including a visor, mounts for luggage boxes, knuckle guards, specialized tyres etc. The bike will feature a new headlamp, new side mounted exhaust, more comfortable seats and longer travel forks. KTM might re-tune power delivery and gear ratios for better off-roading performance.

Since the Duke family bikes are produced at Bajaj’s Chakan plant, the new Duke 390 Adventure will also be manufactured here. Along with the KTM Duke 390 Adventure, the Austrian bikemaker is also planning to launch a bunch of new compact sports bikes in India.

It’s been a while since we heard about the KTM 390 Adventure, the Austrian company’s third installment to its built-in-India small-displacement motorcycle lineup.

Based off the KTM 390 Duke, the Adventure model has been a long-time coming, ever since KTM CEO Stefan Pierer lit it slip that the dual-sport would be coming, two and a half years ago.

It seems now that KTM is getting closer to production, as the folks at CarTrade are reporting that two test models of the KTM 390 Adventure (codenamed KT22) have been sent to India for R&D, presumably as a prelude to Bajaj beginning production on the budget-friednly machines.

At 300 lbs dry, the KTM 390 Duke platform would make for an enticing lightweight ADV bike, something the adventure market has been asking for, in response to the 500+ lbs trend of most adventure-tourers.

Such a bike would also be a very unique offering to ADV riders, which are currently bombarded by a variety of models that would supplant the dominant BMW R1200GS.

Of course, the news also means that we are still a considerable amount of time away from seeing a production KTM 390 Adventure — at the earliest, it could be a 2016 model.

It would be hard to imagine KTM not bringing the KTM 390 Adventure to the USA, one of the largest markets for ADV bikes, though with the way KTM USA operates, it would be 2017 at the earliest that we would see the small ADV bike.

By that point in time, the American market may lose interest in what KTM has to offer — something we’ve seen over and over again with KTM USA’s tardy offerings.

Έχει ξανασυζητηθεί το προηγούμενο καλοκαίρι και φαίνεται ότι τελικά κάποια στιγμή θα βγει στην παραγωγή...σίγουρα υπάρχει κόσμος που το περιμένει!

Mονο 43 αλογά; τοσα βγάζει (εβγαζε στα νιατα του) το kle πριν 20 χρόνια.. Επρεπε να ειχα οδηγησει και το 390 στα μεγαρα να συγκρίνω..

Eιχε 390 η θυμάμαι οτι θέλω;

Το μοτορι αυτο οχι απλος θα τα σπαει, θα σπαει στη κυριολεξία.... ολοι ξερουμε τι να περιμένουμε απο αυτο

Αν ημουν η ΚΤΜ πρωτα θα κοιταγα να βγαλω ενα dual sport/on off/trail οπως θελετε πειτε το (εντουρακι, ψευδοεντουρο στα ελληνικα) και μετα τα αλλα δυο.

ΟΚ εχει πλεον μεγαλη παραδοση ΚΑΙ στα μηχανακια δρομου με την οικογενεια Duke απο τον γεναρχη 620 το 92-94 (μαλλον) ομως πιστευω το κενό στην αγορα ηταν πρωτα για το " εντουρακι" 390 οχι για τα αλλα. Εξαλλου τι προσδοκίες να εχεις απο ενα μονοκυλινδρο 390 πολιτικο μοτερ στο δρομο. Στο χωμα ομως και στην διπλη χρηση το πραμα αλλαζει και εκει φαινετε χορταστικό.

Αν γινει αυτο(μακαρι αλλα δε...)δε θα εβγαζαν το 1050 με σκοπο να καλυψουν το κενο του α2.Μαλλον χλωμο το βλεπω και αν βγει μαλλον θα βγει μονο για ινδια.

Τα 42 αλογα ειναι καλα για να ελαφρυ ADV μηχανακι, η μονη μου ενσταση ειναι οτι θα το ηθελα λιγο πιο εντουραδικο, κατα τα αλλα μια ωραια κινηση απο την KTM για να ανοιξει η κατηγορια των μικρων adventure.

Δεν μπορώ να καταλάβω που ακριβώς πάει να "χωρέσει" το συγκεκριμένο. Δεν είναι "ψευτο-adv" με... creature comforts (ανεμοκάλυψη, σέλα για δύο κτλ.) όπως τα περισσότερα μεγαλύτερα 650άρια και δεν το λες και αρκετά μικρό για να'ναι καθαρά enduro, αν και η σχεδίασή του κατά 'κει θέλει να το πάει. Μίνι adv για solo αναβάτες που θέλουν "ταξιδιωτικό enduro" τύπου long way round ας πούμε; Μάλλον.
